Anthony is a doctoral student in Cognition and Instruction at the University of Connecticut. He is an Aerospace Physiologist in the U.S Navy and has received a Navy scholarship to attend graduate school on a full-time basis. He is interested in online distance learning and its use within military training environments.

Sherryl is a master’s student in the Neag School of Education’s IB/M Teacher Education Program at the University of Connecticut. She received a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Mathematics Education from the
University of Connecticut. Her research interests include multicultural education, math discourse and reasoning, behavioral problems presented by gifted students in math, and the potential relationship between math
self-efficacy and math anxiety. In her free time, Sherryl enjoys running, singing, cooking, and learning different languages.

Andri is a doctoral student in the Educational Technology program at the University of Connecticut . She received a M.A. in Educational Technology from the University of Connecticut and a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Cyprus. Andri is interested in how technology can improve learning, as a productivity and cognitive tool ideal for research, networking and collaboration.

Aja LaDuke is a third year doctoral student in the Curriculum and Instruction Department of the Neag School of Education. Her interests include literacy and language development, bilingual education, teacher education, and instruction for diverse learners. Aja graduated from the Neag School of Education Integrated Bachelor's/Master's program in 2002. She taught third grade for two years in Burlington, CT before returning to graduate school.

Alison Laturnau is in her fifth year of the NEAG School of Education Integrated Bachelor’s/Master’s program, set to receive her M.A. in Secondary English Education at the University of Connecticut. She received her B.S. in Education from the University of Connecticut in 2007, during which she also studied abroad in London, UK as a member of the City University student body, in the Spring of 2005. She worked in the UConn Writing Center for two years as a peer-tutor, as well as volunteered for several University sponsored programs including Conversational Partners and Expanding Horizons. Alison is interested in differentiated instruction for all learners, developing a community of learners inside the classroom and within the field of education, and teacher education (pre-service as well as professional development).

Katherine Picho is a doctoral student in Cognition & Instruction at the University of Connecticut. Her research interests include leadership & gender, stereotype threat and problem-based learning. She also lectures Business Communications at the University of Hartford.

Katherine is multilingual; speaks fluent English, French, and African Luo languages and has lived on three continents, six countries and a total of fifteen cities. By virtue of her extensive travel and experience living in various cultures, she brings to her lectures and research work the unique and added benefit of a broader world-view, and the appreciation of diversity, which can only enrich the learning experience and curriculum.

Cheryl earned her first doctoral degree in mechanical engineering. She had been an engineering faculty in universities in Australia and Singapore for a few years. Throughout her teaching and research, she started to develop a strong interest in human development especially in the aspects of learning and education. While teaching robotics to university students as an associate professor in mechanical engineering, Cheryl enrolled a part time bachelor degree program in Early Childhood Education. As the interest in learning and education grows, part time involvement seemed not enough. Cheryl resigned and joined the Educational Psychology Department as a Ph.D. Student in Jan. 2006. Her current research interests include Engineering Education Measurement, Vertical Scaling and Early Childhood STEM Education.

Rosalyn Reese is currently enrolled in the Neag School of Education IB/M Program. She will receive her M.A. degree in Secondary Mathematics in May, 2008. Her goal is to become a high school mathematics teacher in an
ethnically diverse school setting. Rosalyn is currently a member of a group developed by students in the Neag School of Education called DEED, (Determined Educators Emphasizing Diversity). As a member
of this group, she plans to learn more about Multicultural Education and develop skills to help her become a teacher that is culturally responsive to her students. This summer, Rosalyn travelled to South Africa to pursue teaching opportunities. She hopes to return one day to further enhance her knowledge of teaching mathematics in diverse environments. Her other interests include baking, shopping and spending time with friends and family.

Rohini Sen is a doctoral student in the Department of Statistics at UConn. She received her Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from Bryn Mawr College, PA. She has been teaching Introductory Statistics courses for the past 2 years at UConn alongside her PhD program. Her interests include Biostatistics, Public Health, Education, Design of Experiments, Categorical data analysis, Cooking, Reading, Badminton and Sketching. Her interest in education and teacher retention led her to become a first year graduate assistant with the prestigious TNE program.
